UOG TOP PICK – Lizard Super Trek Sandals A trekking sandal that manages to be lightweight, amazingly comfortable with a decent Vibram sole. Great to wear on non-technical sections, to give your feet a rest, for river crossings or around camp, bothies and hostels. We love their versatility, worth the weight in your pack in our opinion. An incredibly comfortable, rugged hiking sandal, they have been built to cover some serious miles, not just slip on at camp. Our Verdict Ive never been convinced by hiking sandals, Ive always found the idea off-putting, but I have to admit, I really like these. First off these are not a recovery shoe or something to slip on at camp to let your feet breathe. They are a true, dedicated hiking sandal. They have 3 adjustable straps, one above the toes, one around the ankle, and one to keep the foot in place, so you get a really precise, custom fit, that holds really well. The snap buckle is very strong and makes donning and doffing these sandals incredibly quick. The spacer mesh offers a good deal of cushioning so they are very comfortable against bare skin. Just to show they mean business, they boast a hard-wearing Vibram ECO sole, that offers a fantastic grip on rough terrain, even in wet conditions, this makes them possibly the best river crossing shoes in the world. The midsole absorbs impacts extremely well and has a responsive feel that lends well to adaptation underfoot. OK, I wouldnt go mountain climbing in them, but I think on a multi-day hike, if you had a long section of road walking these would be brilliant. Equally good along the coast, the woods, even some low-level hill walking. I recently injured myself on the trail and found wearing hiking boots impossible, thanks to a swollen Achilles heel.
