Firstly they are a true mid boot with excellent ankle padding and support, the uppers are mainly suede but they also have plastic protection on high wear areas along the sides of the heel area, the front too has a thick rubber toe cap which will protect against damaging scuffs and scratches.The sole unit is stiffer than most too, and according to Scarpa is made from a new compound that offers both high grip and durability, two factors that are normally mutually exclusive. Not the boot we’d choose for summer hiking but a good option for late Autumn, early Spring or low level winter hikes.
