With proper care, one Tyvek Footprint will last for a multi-month and multi-thousand mile hike. Notes: For a softer feel, prewash your Tyvek in a washing machine. It will make the material softer and easier to fold. Our Verdict Modern lightweight tents are designed to be used quite successfully without a footprint and we would only recommend taking one if you expect to be camping on quite stony ground or you want to actively extend the life of your tent and don’t mind the extra weight.
